Goodbye September!

Wow, the summer is long gone! Our Aspen trees have all changed color-the mountains are covered in yellow and orange...soon to be covered in pure white. I want to hold my breath and enjoy our last few moments of warm weather, green grass, and ducks in the pond- but the winds are picking up and the days are shorter. Don't get me wrong-I love the winter. I just know that if I blink-I will wake up under three feet of snow! We have had a good summer. We stayed busy: played hard and worked hard. The girls have been home with mommy while daddy is off playing with his Tonka Trucks ;) I am coaching Emma's soccer team! We have four boys and two girls on our team. Abby is our mascot! She practices with us-but will be officially on the team next year when she is four. (Well we did sneak her into one game when Emma was sick-we just dressed her up in Emma's jersey-she did great! When she wasn't wandering off the field to pet a dog or climb a fence!) We went to Water World twice! That was a blast! So, I guess we are ready! BRING ON THE SNOW!

"Wicked"

So, last weekend these awesome and generous friends of ours asked us to go to a musical with them in Denver at the Center for the Preforming Arts...they said that they had bought the tickets almost two years ago and that the tickets were almost gone then! The "show" was a Broadway musical called "Wicked" which just so happened to be the book I had been reading at the time-how perfect! So we drove down to Denver and met our friends for dinner, and then to the show. The seats were in the center, third row! It was so perfect! "Wicked" was so much better than I dreamed-it was awesome! So I had a blast! I feel so lucky, blessed and cultured ;)

"Miss Cranky Pants"

I am writing a children's book about my daughter Emma. Well, I have already written it-and I have my friend Tai painting the pictures for it. I have an agent-and now I am just waiting for a publisher to find me. The Children's Literary Agency is at a huge publishers conference in D.C. this week and they will be exibiting my story to the many publishing companys...please pray that someone likes it! I would love to get my book published this year-cause I have more waiting! We will see. Other than that-I am staying home with the girls this summer, we are swimming, going to the park, the children's museum, on bike rides, the farmer's market, they are helping me with my property management job (so generous of me to say "helping")and I am trying to find time to work on my homework for my Master's Degree and fitting in shifts at the conference center where I bartend and waitress, and I am helping out the local florist with some weddings... SO, there it is: a peek into my crazy life...now I'm sure you may need a nap ;) ha ha

Choices

Color upon color
laughter touches
our days.
It's a simple thing
to reach beyond self.
Color upon color
each day
you build bridges...
it's your
clear choice-
to speak in rainbows...
not rain. (MARH)

May-Snow Showers?

Well, the end of May is upon us and still only a few good "summer" days. It keeps snowing-not enough to build a snowman-just enough to keep us off our bikes and out of the yard. We have gone on a few hikes, had a couple BBQs, played at the park,...We are just ready for the sunny days! I have high hopes for today! Today is the girls last day of school-they will be out all summer! We have lots of fun planned-Abby's birthday party is July 7th (she turns 3 on the 5th) We are having a Superman party (she is OBSESSED!) and then the girls are flying back with Joe's mom to Portland for a few weeks. Then to Bend to spend a week with Aunt Bre, Uncle Bri, and Cousin Will! Joe and I are gonna drive out and meet them in Bend-then back up to Portland before heading 'cross-country again. That is our big traveling plans for the summer-other than that-we are staying home and enjoying the long-awaited Colorado Summer with farmer's markets, street parties, BBQs, camping, hiking, swimming, climbing,...It should be a good summer. As soon as it stops SNOWING!!!!! ;)

It is April already!

But why is it still snowing?!!!! We got a fresh blanket of snow this morning...it is so beautiful-But it sure keeps us busy with shoveling, plowing and dodging tourists ;) I will write more when there isn't a kid on my back "brushing" my hair (ouch!).
